WebBitter Creek NWR was established in 1985 to provide safe roosting and foraging habitat for California condors. The approved boundary of the Refuge encompasses 16,144 acres, of which 14,096 acres is owned in fee title by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
